Paul Heeks
Chairman

As our Club Chairman, Paul is committed to supporting, developing and driving the club forward in all its endeavours. Responsible to the clubs' membership and elected committee he chairs all club meetings and coordinates all activities to ensure an efficient and well managed club. In addition Paul ensures that the club adopts ‘best practices’ as recommended by the governing bodies, assists other volunteers in their roles chairs annual general meetings and delivers a chairman’s report to the membership. You will see him on training nights where he makes the club announcements and presents awards.

Mark Skoulding
Treasurer

As Club Treasurer, Mark records, controls and efficiently manages the finances of the club. His tasks include recording all financial transactions of the club, maintaining club financial information and controlling our bank balances to ensure club finances are attracting the best return. He pays our club bills and reimbursements, reports on the income and expenditure of each event we organise and current balances to the committee on a monthly basis, as well as producing annual accounts and report on the club finances at the annual general meeting to the membership and recommend membership fees for the year.

Angela Burdett
Secretary

As our Club Secretary Angela is the Club's cornerstone and keeps the Club organised. Angela records all committee and AGM meeting minutes and is responsible for maintaining all the club's formal records, including club rules and constitution. She ensures our club affiliations and insurances are paid, receives and processes any club postal mail, notably from Athletic authorities.

Ritchie Parkins
Men's Captain

Ritchie is our Men's Team Captain and he's here to encourage and support the male members of the club in whatever their running endeavours might be. Together with the Ladies' Captain Melody-Anne Neville, he helps organise the club’s participation in local and regional race series and relay events. He very approachable and is there to support your highs and lows, achievements and consolations, so if you have any questions as a member, he's your first port of call.

Melody-Anne Neville
Ladies Captain

Melody-Anne is our Ladies' Team Captain and she's here to encourage and support the female members of the club in whatever their running endeavours might be. Together with the Mens' Captain Ritchie Parkins she helps organise the club’s participation in local and regional race series and relay events. She is very approachable and is there to support your highs and lows, achievements and consolations, so if you have any questions as a member, she's your first port of call.

Wendy Hughes
Membership Secretary

As our Membership Secretary, Wendy is responsible for maintaining the club membership details and to promote membership to new runners. She receives and maintain the club membership details, including the collection of the annual membership fee and ensures that membership and affiliation fee is passed across to England Athletics for registration.

Jane Skoulding
Club Kit Officer

As our Club Kit Officer, Jane's role is to promote and sell club kit to the membership of the club to ensure that club colours are worn at race events. She sources and purchases club kit from suppliers, with approval from the club’s committee, and maintains stock which is available for membership to purchase club kit at club nights and race events.

Kendra Hammond
Social Secretary

As our Club Social Secretary, Kendra organises and coordinates all social functions on behalf of the membership. These events include our pre-London Marathon pasta party, club Christmas party and Committee pre-AGM meal to name but a few. On the appropriate anniversary, usually every 5 years from when the club was first formed in 1986, our Social Secretary organises the clubs anniversary dinner dance. If you have any suggestions for a social event, then do discuss your ideas with Kendra.

Julia Baldwin
IT & Publicity Officer

As IT & Publicity Officer, Julia is responsible for the Club's communication. She actively promotes Stowmarket Striders Running Club and keeps members, local and running community informed of our news, events, achievements and race reports through use of marking materials, email, website, word of mouth and press releases to local newspapers and community magazines, national athletics press and on-line media as well as local radio/ television. She collates, edits and distributes our club newsletter, creates our events marketing materials and manages our on-line race entry systems. If you have any news that you would like to share or promote then Julia would love to hear from you.

Sue Garrod
Welfare Officer

As Club Welfare Officer, it's Sue's responsibility to ensure the club fulfils its responsibility to safe guard young people, and promote anti-discriminatory, equity and equality procedures. Her tasks include the creation and maintenance the club’s policies for child welfare, anti-discrimination, equity and equality.To implement, promote and review compliance to the club’s best practices as set out by the welfare policies. Be the first point of contact for volunteers, membership, parents and young people where there are concerns of any breach of the club’s welfare policies and ensure the club reaches and maintains the standards required for Club Mark. In addition she ensures the Club is kept up-to-date with the latest sports accreditation developments and make necessary recommendations to ensure the club maintains the highest possible standards on welfare issues.

Heidi Bingham
Stowmarket Half Race Director

As a Club Race Director, Heidi, together with Les Basham is responsible for overseeing, planning and organising our Stowmarket Half Marathon. Organising one of our Club races is no mean feat and amongst other items, includes the following: Writing and obtaining permission to hold races as required (i.e. local council, police, land owner, etc), advising and obtaining the necessary permits from the appropriate sport affiliation, including the race details, risk assessment and course accuracy. Liaising with sponsors, overseeing race marketing and race entry data, arranging the appropriate facilities on the race day to include toilets, changing facilities, refreshments, water stops, and signage. Ensuring that the race has the appropriate number of marshals in the right place. Record timings and results of races together with the procurement and presentation of runner trophies/mementos.

Les Basham
Stowmarket Half Race Director

As a Club Race Director, Les, together with Heidi Bingham is responsible for overseeing, planning and organising our Stowmarket Half Marathon. Organising one of our Club races is no mean feat and amongst other items, includes the following: Writing and obtaining permission to hold races as required (i.e. local council, police, land owner, etc), advising and obtaining the necessary permits from the appropriate sport affiliation, including the race details, risk assessment and course accuracy. Liaising with sponsors, overseeing race marketing and race entry data, arranging the appropriate facilities on the race day to include toilets, changing facilities, refreshments, water stops, and signage. Ensuring that the race has the appropriate number of marshals in the right place. Record timings and results of races together with the procurement and presentation of runner trophies/mementos.

Cross Country Race Director

Liaising with sponsors, overseeing race marketing and race entry data, arranging the appropriate facilities on the race day to include toilets, changing facilities, refreshments, water stops, and signage. Ensuring that the race has the appropriate number of marshals in the right place. Record timings and results of races together with the procurement and presentation of runner trophies/mementos.

Chris Gladwell
Friday 5 & Scenic 7 Race Director

As a Club Race Director, Chris is our Friday 5 Race Director and together with Rachel Toogood is also RD for our Scenic 7 race. Organising one of our Club races is no mean feat and amongst other items, includes the following: Writing and obtaining permission to hold races as required (i.e. local council, police, land owner, etc), advising and obtaining the necessary permits from the appropriate sport affiliation, including the race details, risk assessment and course accuracy. Liaising with sponsors, overseeing race marketing and race entry data, arranging the appropriate facilities on the race day to include toilets, changing facilities, refreshments, water stops, and signage. Ensuring that the race has the appropriate number of marshals in the right place. Record timings and results of races together with the procurement and presentation of runner trophies/mementos.

Tim Larke (Tucker)
Golden Mile Race Director

As a Club Race Director, Tucker is responsible for overseeing, planning and organising our Golden Mile race. Organising one of our Club races is no mean feat and amongst other items, includes the following: Writing and obtaining permission to hold races as required (i.e. local council, police, land owner, etc), advising and obtaining the necessary permits from the appropriate sport affiliation, including the race details, risk assessment and course accuracy. Liaising with sponsors, overseeing race marketing and race entry data, arranging the appropriate facilities on the race day to include toilets, changing facilities, refreshments, water stops, and signage. Chris Gladwell
Coach Co-ordinator

Chris acts as a liaison between the club’s committee and coaches, and works to promote the club’s junior section with local schools. His role is to identify training requirements for the clubs coaches and report back to the committee, monitor the total number and level of coaches required for the membership, most notably with respect to the juniors.

Steve Gray
General Committee Member & Triathlon Representative

As General Committee Member Steve represents the membership views at committee meetings, particularly in relation to triathlon activities and actively assists other committee members in the tasks and responsibilities of running the Club.
