Stowmarket Half Marathon - CANCELLED

Sunday, March 18, 2018 - 11:00

WEATHER UPDATE: Due to adverse weather conditions and unsafe road surfaces due to ice, we regret to advise that the Stowmarket Half Marathon has been cancelled. Posted: 18th March - 7:11am

It was with great disappointment that due to adverse weather conditions we had to cancel the Stowmarket Half Marathon on Sunday 18th.   We’d like to thank you for the many messages of support and understanding that you emailed to us and posted on Facebook, it means a lot. We’ve all put so much into trying to make the event a successful and enjoyable race for you, unfortunately this year we were beaten by the weather - we just had to put your safety and the welfare of our volunteers first.

Regrettably we are unable to offer an alternative date to reschedule this year’s race, due to various planning factors. I am sure you are understanding of the costs that we have already incurred in regards to planning such a big event.  From your race entry terms and conditions, you are also aware that we do have a no refunds policy ‘in the event of race cancellation due to weather conditions, safety reasons or other issues beyond our control’.

However, we WILL be refunding you 50% of your race entry fees and once we have deducted the race costs we will be making a charity donation.

The 50% refund will be made via the Eventbrite race entry system over the next 3 days, please allow up to a further 3-5 business days for the transfer to complete. Moneys will be returned to the original individual who paid for the race entry via the original payment method. For those of you who transferred places on the race to another runner, please discuss between yourselves appropriate reimbursement. For those of you who withdrew from the race but your place was not resold you will also receive a partial refund.  All parties have been copied in on this email.

Happy running and here’s hoping for a sunnier 2019 race! Hope to see you there.

All the best
